The Sarah Timmons Activities Program supports area seniors by providing monthly activities and assistance.
Sevier County seniors will soon benefit from the Sarah Timmons Activities Program, established by S.D. Professionals and managed by Dolly Parton’s My People Senior Center. Sarah’s Fund honors the legacy of Sarah Scott Timmons by providing monthly activities and assistance for Sevier County, TN seniors at home and for those in short and long-term, assisted living.
S.D. Professionals proudly supports this cause. Sarah Timmons lived her life to the fullest each day. She loved cooking and baking for her family, growing beautiful flowers and sharing her home with many friends and loved ones. A native of South Carolina, Sarah moved to Tennessee in March 2018 to receive short-term rehabilitation care. With the support of her family, Sarah was able to remain active even after she was restricted to a wheelchair. She enjoyed shopping adventures, road trips and events like the annual Tennessee State Fair.
Sarah was the delight of every party including special events and holiday gatherings including those with her SD Professionals family. On one especially memorable occasion, she met Dolly Parton and of course baked her a pound cake. Parts of Dolly’s family tree trace back to South Carolina and these two ladies found they had a lot in common.
In May of 2018, Dolly Parton dedicated the My People Senior Activity Center in honor of her parents, Lee and Avie Lee Parton. The center offers exercise classes, woodworking, crafting, quilting and a number of other activities.
