Dolly Parton and Llama Llama’s Anna Dewdney
Each year, Dolly Parton finds time to celebrate nearby her hometown of Sevierville and take in the comfort of familiar places such as namesake theme parks Dollywood and Dolly’s Splash Country. Each year, she also finds time to promote what might be her most near and dear extracurricular – Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. With her annual Homecomin’ event, the streets and seats fill with spectators and fans as she serves as grand marshall to a parade and as a special guest for many shows across town.
During an event to celebrate and promote her Imagination Library, SD Professionals were invited to film the event so that others could also see what’s so special about this great nonprofit organization.
There are plenty of challenges to shooting a live event, but our team was ready for the challenge and wanted to pay special attention to author and illustrator Anna Dewdney. Due to her books rising popularity (she penned the “Llama Llama” series) among Imagination Library recipients and readers around the globe, Dolly took a moment to recognize the author during a special presentation. Following the ceremony, we caught up with Anna as she sat down with Dolly Foundation President, David Dotson. The two discussed her visit to East Tennessee and what it was like to be part of the Imagination Library family.
The task for our team was to take all of this great footage and create a short video that highlights the author and promotes the Imagination Library. After creating intro and outro graphics for the piece (while staying consistent with established Imagination Library branding), all that was left was editing the right clips together and introducing our speakers with name bar graphics.
The end result is something we are very proud of as the story lines of Dolly Parton and her foundation follow along with Anna Dewdney. Best of luck to both and we look forward to more great books for even more children!
